A Novel Parametrization of τ-lepton Dominance and Simplified One-loop Renormalization-group Equations of Neutrino Mixing Angles and CP-violating Phases

چکیده
We point out that the τ -lepton dominance in the one-loop renormalizationgroup (RG) equations of neutrino mixing quantities allows us to set a criterion to choose the most suitable parametrization of the lepton flavor mixing matrix U : its elements U3i (for i = 1, 2, 3) should be as simple as possible. Such a novel parametrization is quite different from the “standard” one used in the literature and can lead to greatly simplified RG equations for three mixing angles and the physical CP-violating phase(s) in the standard model or its minimal supersymmetric extension, no matter whether neutrinos are Dirac or Majorana particles. Some important features of our analytical results and their phenomenological consequences are also discussed. PACS number(s): 14.60.Pq, 13.10.+q, 25.30.Pt Typeset using REVTEX

Why do Majorana Neutrinos Run Faster than Dirac Neutrinos?
The τ -lepton dominance in the one-loop renormalization-group equations (RGEs) of neutrinos sets a cute criterion to parametrize the 3 × 3 lepton flavor mixing matrix U : its elements U3i (for i = 1, 2, 3) should be as simple as possible. Such a novel parametrization is different from the “standard” one used in the literature and can lead to greatly simplified RGEs for three mixing angles and t...
متن کاملDistinguishable RGE running effects between Dirac neutrinos and Majorana neutrinos with vanishing Majorana CP-violating phases
In a novel parametrization of neutrino mixing and in the approximation of τ lepton dominance, we show that the one-loop renormalization-group equations (RGEs) of Dirac neutrinos are different from those of Majorana neutrinos even if two Majorana CP-violating phases vanish. As the latter can keep vanishing from the electroweak scale to the typical seesaw scale, it makes sense to distinguish betw...
متن کاملHow to Describe Neutrino Mixing and CP Violation
We present a classification of possible parametrizations of the 3 × 3 lepton flavor mixing matrix in terms of the rotation and phase angles. A particular parametrization, which is most convenient to describe the observables of neutrino oscillations and that of the neutrinoless double beta decay, is studied in detail. The possibility to determine the Diracand Majorana-type CP-violating phases ar...
متن کاملOn the Quasi-fixed Point in the Running of CP-violating Phases of Majorana Neutrinos
Taking the standard parametrization of three-flavor neutrino mixing, we carefully examine the evolution of three CP-violating phases (δ, α1, α2) with energy scales in the realistic limit θ13 → 0. If m3 vanishes, we find that the one-loop renormalization-group equation (RGE) of δ does not diverge and its running has no quasi-fixed point. When m3 6= 0 holds, we show that the continuity condition ...
متن کاملOne-loop renormalization group equations of the neutrino mass matrix in the triplet seesaw model
Within the framework of the standard model plus one heavy Higgs triplet, we derive a full set of one-loop renormalization group equations of the neutrino mass matrix and Higgs couplings in both full and effective theories. The explicit RGEs of neutrino masses, flavor mixing angles and CP-violating phases are also obtained, and their non-trivial running behaviors around the Higgs triplet mass th...
